Maintain Your Education Visa Status While Traveling Outside Thailand
If you are holding an Education Visa (Non-Immigrant ED Visa) and plan to leave Thailand temporarily, it is essential to apply for a Re-Entry Permit before you depart. Failing to do so may result in the automatic cancellation of your Education visa.
What is a Re-Entry Permit?
A Re-Entry Permit allows you to leave and re-enter Thailand without invalidating
your current Education visa. It protects your Education Visa status, so you can resume
your studies upon return without needing to apply for a new Education Visa.
Types of Re-entries Permits:
1. Single Re-Entry Permit
- Valid for one-time travel
- If you plan to leave Thailand once and return before your Education Visa expires
2. Multiple Re-Entry Permit
- Valid for unlimited entries and exits during your visa period
- Ideal for students who plan to travel frequently
How to Apply for a Re-Entry Permit
You can apply for a re-entry permit (Single Re-Entry Permit only for an Education Visa) at:
Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang Airport
(before departure)
Your local Immigration Office
Required Documents:
- Completed TM.8 form
- Your passport (with valid Education Visa)
- A copy of the passport photo page, visa page, and latest entry stamp
- One passport-sized photo (4×6 cm)
- Applicable fee:
- 1,000 THB for a single re-entry
- 3,800 THB for a multiple re-entry
Important Notes:
The re-entry permit does not extend your education visa. It only preserves your current Education visa status
You must return to Thailand before your Education Visa expiry date
If you travel without a re-entry permit, your Education Visa will be automatically canceled upon departure
